When Greg and I were out on our nightly walk the last week, a random neighbor shouted from his garage too us, “Hey, you know there is a free fishing derby this Saturday for kids?” We were surprised to hear this as everyone we’ve spoken with since that shout out never heard of it. So, on Friday, we did a drive-by the Tri Lakes and low and behold, the sign said, “Kids Fishing Derby Saturday, 8-12. Free!” How fun!
The girls were very excited. Morgan got a Barbie pole on her 2nd birthday from the neighbor (which was still in its packaging) and Shelby got an early birthday present, a Tinkerbell pole. We loaded the kids up and headed 4 miles down the road to the Tri Lakes complex.
It was so much fun! THe kids got free t-shirts, a mini tackle box, worms and a bucket.
Getting setup and ready to fish!
Daddy teaching them how to cast.
Morgan pulling in the Big One!
The girls did so great! The lasted, or should we say Greg and I lasted, about 1 1/2 hours. In that time frame Greg, Shelby and Morgan all got a fish! It was so cute.
Thanks to our awesome little town for hosting this! I love Bloomington/Normal! There is always something fun to do!
