One year ago today, we welcome our third little girl, and final little Patten baby into the world. She caught me by surprise, breaking my water THREE weeks early to make her debut. But in the week to follow I would soon know why.
It was a Thursday night and I was frantically prepping for our family to arrive the next day for a visit to our new house. At about 10:30pm I went to bed, almost threw-up at midnight, and then at 1:00am my water broke in bed, while laying down, not even moving. The rest was history.
I 100% fell in love INSTANTLY. I don’t know what it was about this little girl. Maybe its because I actually knew what I was doing this time around. Maybe its because I was so tired of not sleeping in the hospital room from Greg’s snoring (at that time) that I sent him home to sleep so I was alone with her a lot. Or maybe its just because she was the only one not yelling at me for something. But sweet little Brooke was definitely the missing piece to our trio of girls. And I am SO grateful we had a girl. All the clothes I have; so happy they are getting triple use out of them!
Now, my little baby is one. Time has flown by, but for me I cherish this age as it is way better than when they are newborns (in my opinion). She is a little mischievous one, that is for sure. While yes, she can play happily on her own, she still has her list of things she HAS to do every day to torment me:
- Crawl behind the couch to pull the phone and baby monitor off the end table
- Crawl into the fridge whenever she sees it open
- Open Every Single Cupboard that we have
- Tear food out of the food cupboard
- If the girls leave the bathroom door open, she has to play in the toilet
- If the baby gate is down, she is up the stairs
- If the garage door is open, she is out the door
- Any tissue, paper, plastic on the ground she eats
- Tries to pull everything out of the garbage cans
- Pulls every hair accessory out of the girls bathroom if the door is left open
AH! This list is NEVER ENDING. For certain we live in a world of closed doors and toilet seats for now. So if you come over, you will understand why.
She is fun. She is cute. She eats great, drinks whole milk like a champ from a sippy cup and goes to bed amazing with her passy and blankie. Life is pretty fun, except for when she is doing the terrorizing, then not so much.
No walking yet, though she does like walking with the toy walker.
No words yet either, though she does like to copy you when you go aaaaaA! and she goes aaaaaA! it is pretty cute.
We love you sweet Brooke. To the moon and back. Happy Birthday!
