While we were visiting Wisconsin on our last vacation, it worked out quite conveniently that Shelby’s birthday was going to fall during the week that we were there. I say convenient as there is nothing better than having your family around to help ring in another year of age. Anytime the girls birthdays fall close to a weekend or holiday, we try to make the trek to WI so we don’t make anyone feel like they can/cannot make the trek down to Illinois.
Shelby’s birthday fell on a Tuesday. We woke up in the morning, had breakfast and got ready for a fun trip to the Milwaukee Cty Zoo!
This girl is a nut and has recently developed a funny “Elaine” Seinfeld dance. It is hilarious.
I only took a couple of pictures while at the zoo but cannot seem to find them on my phone. Anyway, it was a beautiful day, and would end up being the only non-foggy day almost the entire trip. Bummer! My parents, Greg’s Mom/Steve, sister Bonnie and Kids, and my friend Karen and Kids all met and enjoyed the zoo, a picnic lunch, and delicious popsicles together. It was sweet.
When we got home, Shelby and Morgan watched my Dad and Greg place 3.5 ton of River Rock around my dad’s flower beds. After showers and dinner at Chili’s (horrible service by the way, it was ridiculous) we came home to open presents! Shelby was pooped by kept a good attitude nonetheless.
Per Shelby’s request, she wanted a Pink Funfetti cake, and that’s what our little princess got.
And there you have it. Another year down and our girl has grown up so.much. She goes to preschool for the first time right after Labor Day. 3 days a week from 8:30-11:15. It will be harder than Morgan because Shelby is my sidekick. She helps without being asked, she loves to watch/help cook and really loves playing with her sisters. I am happy she is growing into a sweet young lady but sad at the same time. I guess this is the journey of parenthood. I just wish I could remember all the funny things she likes to say and do. Maybe in Heaven we will be able to access all the happy memories we’ve ever had much like Harry Potter did.
