4 Months

4 Months Old. What a momentous occasion it is. Sleep, food, napping. Things should have change by now, right? Hmmm…well, sort-of but not how they were expected.

Shelby is so sweet. Though she has never been a snuggler, she is a innocent little lover, that’s for sure.

She usually lets me know when she is done playing or participating in whatever I have going on; point in case.

And gets herself into quite the predicaments at times (legs).

Shelby Stuck (4mo)

I took her into the doctor today and she was……….

  • 14.1 lbs - 74th percentile (Morgan was the same weight at 4 months old…creepy)
  • 26.5 inches – 98th percentile (Shelby grew 3 inches in 2 months)

As you can see, long legs run in the family.

Here is what her sleep, napping and food statuses are nowadays.

Sleep
This child cracks me up. She has gotten pretty good at sleeping through the night, as of late. She goes down between 6:30 and 7:00pm and gets up between 7:00am and 8:00am. All goes well as long as one of the following do not happen:

  • She poops.
  • She peeps through her diaper.
  • She winds up on her belly and cannot get back.
  • She gets her leg stuck in the crib slats.

Napping
Shelby’s naps are still completely random, though we’ve noticed a slight pattern over the past few days. Sometimes, naps are only 45 minutes….that’s 3, 45 minute naps ALL DAY LONG. But then there are times (like yesterday when Greg was in charge, of course) when she slept 3.5 hours for the afternoon nap. Honestly, there is no rhyme or reason to her napping. I just have to deal with it, lol.

Food
Shelby is quite the little chow-hound. She can down a bottle faster than you can heat it up. Sometimes I feel like my pumping isn’t going to keep up. I still nurse her, except for when I have to work (duh.) Her suck-factor has intensified times 100 the past week. Poor me.

She did get to enjoy some delicious, breast milk enhanced rice cereal yesterday. The beginning was hilarious and she kept smiling at me. Towards the end, she finally figured it out.

All in all Shelby is a great baby. Though she is right now partial to me holding her and being around, she does great at the sitter and with Greg during my work week.

Here are some of her proud accomplishments and/or quirks:

  • Can roll from back to belly…constantly.
  • Loves the tub, has never cried in it.
  • Loves her big sister and just smiles at her constantly.
  • Sleeps predominantly on her back but will flip to her belly during the night sometimes.
  • Is quiet– this kid coos but rarely. So much different from Morgan.
  • Goes from 0-100 in 5 seconds with her crying level.
  • Enjoys being outside.
  • Kicks her legs a ton when excited.
  • Loves to look at herself in the mirror.

Shelby is such a delight. Makes me think about how sweet number three will be…..not anytime soon though:)
