The Party. The Presents. The Cake.

Greg had a great birthday week, and it is actually still continuing.  We are headed out on Saturday night to have a romantical dinner.  This past Saturday, we kicked off Greg’s birthday week with a party.

Morgan was so pooped from playing with Kendra all night she curled right up next to Great-Grampa to watch Lion King.

While Shelby was sleeping, Greg and Morgan enjoyed a nice birthday cake that my mom made.Greg and Morgan (2yr)Greg and Morgan (2yr) 2

It was a lovely time.

Fast forward to yesterday.  I had this great idea to make Greg his favorite Funfetti cake.  Please note, I hate making this cake.  It’s too dry (when I make it) and I hate frosting it because it ALWAYS crumbles.

So I began…..with success in mind.

And I failed….What is this cake?  How embarrassing.  Luckily I had a spare cake, which stayed in 9x13 form, and enjoyed a bath in homemade frosting.Cake

I swallow my pride and allow all to laugh at me.  Greg did, which was warranted, I know.

Today, he enjoyed his presents.  A new work-zippey-sweatshirt thing, new Grampa Patten Style slippers and a new wallet.

Stop cheaping out with Roundy's cake mix and frosting and maybe your cakes will turn out better!!!!!

I am a nightmare with cakes too although I made one from Hershey's website that was so yummy that it didn't even need frosting. And I learned that refridgerating them helps them not crumble (but I am the last person you should take advice from!). How fun to see your blog!
