27 and a half.

Today is my 27th birthday and Shelby’s 1/2 birthday.  Did we plan it this way?  Well, kinda sorta.  Seeing how Shelby was a planned c-section, we could pick the date.  It was just our luck that she stayed in there until then.  Thus, we can celebrate together each year – aww…how sweet right? 

Here are the birthdays I remember as a kid.

• Going bowling.
• Having my FIRST sleepover party when I turned 16.  Yes, 16…that’s right.

Seriously, that’s all I remember.  I do remember one year I had a basketball game on my birthday and I didn’t even get a birthday dinner; I had Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodles.  Perhaps I am remembering the bad times.  Umm…

Anyway, so I am 27 today.  Greg isn’t home. He’s been in Omaha, NE since Sunday.  Which means I get to change all the diapers I want today!  YEAH!

Moving on to Shelby.  Shelby is 6 months old today as well and boy, time does fly.  Again I will say how much I love this age and anything older.  She is so much fun.  Here is what makes her so interesting:

• Falls asleep sucking her first two fingers.  No matter where she is: carseat, in crib with shades wide open, on the ground.
• Can roll all over the room.
• Has her first tooth on the bottom, with #2 coming soon.
• LOVES to laugh with you.
• LOVES Morgan so much.
• LOVES bathtime.
• Enjoys eating and playing with her food.
• Not sure what to make of little food chunks I sometimes give her.
• Goes to bed silently and sleeps from 6:30pm-7:00am.  Then naps at 9:30am and 1:30pm.  Usually 1.5-2hrs.  (All you envying me…READ A SLEEP BOOK).
• Recently began to get up on her knees, but no crawling yet.
• Still a quiet little thing.  Never belts anything out really.
• Hunts out her feet regularly.

I took her in for her checkup on Monday and here is what our big little girl is at.

• Weight:  17lbs (75%)
• Length:  27.5inches (98%)

 She certainly is long.

She is a full pound and full inch longer than Morgan was at this age. Seriously?  What will our next baby bring (no I’m not pregnant)?

We love this little girl so much.  Greg really enjoys her now.  The itty bitty baby stage is not his favorite either.  He likes them more mobile and pliable.  Greg and Shelby really are cute together.
