I’ll give you TWO fingers!

We have got a problem here in PattenLand.  Little, ole’ Shelbers as we call her has been a bedtime crier now for 5 weeks.  Quite honestly, I cannot take it much longer.

Usually, she nurses to bed, oh so sweetly and innocently.  However, somewhere between 1 and 3 hours after she shuts her beautiful little eyes, she wakes up SCREAMING!  Usually, I go in and try to burp her – which I’ve decided is merely causing her more harm as she always expects me to come in.  So, when she does wake up, she usually cries 15 minutes – 30 minutes until she falls back asleep.  It is utterly torturing.

On the nights when she doesn’t go to bed via nursing, she usually skips the wakeup call by screaming 15-30-40 minutes until she either accepts a pacifier or goes to sleep on her own.  Again, torture.

Looking back now, Morgan was super super easy.  We never had this; perhaps the reason why it is bothering me so much.

How is she at naptime?  Interestingly enough, this is how she goes down…

Obviously she caught me taking a picture.Shelby crib (5mo)

I am just beside myself with this little girl.  I mean, she is a happy, sweet little thing during the day.  Alert, playful, laughing and never, ever crying.  WHAT!

Shelby Belly smile (5mo) Shelby 5mo Eyes If anyone can relate, it would make me feel better knowing am I not alone.  I just want her to go to bed so sweet and quietly, on her own.  Perhaps I should just be grateful that she sleeps through the night.

The advice I was given with Lauren was to not let her fall asleep nursing. The idea was that babies go through cycles of eat, play, sleep. It worked for us, but I know all babies are different. Good luck!

Oh girl, you are not alone! Hutt goes down pretty easily for me (via nursing or just snuggling) but he is still waking up multiple times during the night. We've actually taken a step BACK this month, ever since the time change it seems. Just keep reminding yourself: this too shall pass. It will. It may take some time, but it will. Hang in there!

Samantha would cry everytime we put her down regardless of what we did. She just had to cry. Sometimes it was 5 minutes, sometimes 30. We seriously tried everything and in the end, we just let her cry. It did end though and I think she's ok now. But now that I think about it, she has been crying a lot lately...
