Three years ago, I was taking this picture the night before my first scheduled c-section of the unknown baby. Her gender had yet to be revealed and I was certain she was a boy.
Wow it is amazing to me how large I was! That next morning, I endured the worst of my two c-sections. I remember feeling full effects of the spinal tap. It was hard to breathe and whatever drug they gave me made me SUPER groggy. I feel like I almost slept through my entire surgery. I had no idea what to expect. It wasn’t really enjoyable at all. Until I heard this little cry.
It was a girl and we were SHOCKED! She was 9lbs 8ounces and beautiful. Her first cries sounded like she was drowding, so off to the nursery she went and I didn’t see her until TWO HOURS after her birth. I seriously didn’t see her as they never held her up for me after she was pulled out:(
In the nursery I nursed her like a champ and felt finally connected with my little love.
Finally, our little girl got to come to our room. She was fiesty, but eventually fell into her ways. Which…ended up being a crying unsoothable mess for about 2 months, until she found her love for her first two fingers
As Shelby has grown, she really has become an amazing little girl. She is SO sweet, yet crazy stubborn and cranky at times. She has a lot already figured out already, but still misses mommy any chance she gets. We love her so much.

Shelby is a great little girl. She loves playing pretend with Morgan and trying to act like her all the time. She loves her blankey, she’s had since day one, and like I said, Sucking her first two fingers. She loves playgroup and nursery, but usually hates nursery after being in there for about 30 minutes. She always calls for MOMMA not DADDY, which stinks when I’m tired.
Right now were in the defiant go to bed stage. She thinks it’s a game when she has to go to sleep. But now that she sleeps in Morgan’s room (by choice) she at least sleeps in her bed all night long.
She loves to tell people she loves them, as well as loves anything not good for you to eat (candy, cookies, chocolate milk, etc).
She loves to eat INSIDE restaurants and ride in Gramma’s car. She is a doll, and we love her so. But at the same time, we could put a mute button on her when she is being so temper-tantrum sassy.
Shelby, we are so grateful to have you in our lives. Thank you for your constant love for all. We love ou! Happy 3rd Birthday!!
