Lets face it. Ever since our family moved to Missouri, our social calendar has not been one that you would choose to model your life after. Luckily, we became friends with our realtor and her family and are now being introduced to her friends. So, that puts us having something to do on one day out of the week. However, our weekends are still pathetic, and honestly there isn’t that much in or around our town to go do so…we have to make the best with what we got.
We decided that it would be wise to maybe make some church friends – seeing how some of our greatest friends have always come from there. They are blessed by the Lord because they attend church, so they must have at least some good qualities, right? Lol.
The past three weeks have felt like we were back on blinds dates again. Literally, we go to these families’ homes (or they come here) and we have no idea who or what they are all about. It is a little unsettling.
Family #1: Dentists.
Yes, there are TOO MANY dentists in our church, that is no lie. Honestly, there are 7. SEVEN! And they all live in Farmington. What? Seems weird to me. Anyway, we went to this young (did I say young) couples’ house for dinner. They have three kids (she has three and she is 26!). Let’s just say when the kids were hiding on the bay window behind the blinds and no one was punishing them and all they kept repeating to the kids were, “Remember, you must listen and obey”, we sorta decided that they were not the right fit for us.
Family #2: Dentists.
Met another couple. Had them over here for dinner. Nice, normal, easy to talk with, good kids, from Arizona. Seemed pretty good.
Family #3: Dentists.
They are coming for dinner tonight. I hope it works out – could really use a friend here in town to hang out with during the long…hot…or rainy days here. We shall see.
The truth is, we cannot replace what we left behind – you know who you are. We miss our old social life. But at least we have each other…right??

I think that you should make friends with engineers, in Seattle...
