For those of you who do not know, Greg has quite the array of professions that he is involved in. His primary job is a General Foreman at the Butler Yard for the Union Pacific Railroad. His secondary job is a volunteer firefighter/EMT for the town we live in. Both jobs are extremely demanding, requiring him to work at the drop of a hat regardless of family plans, dinner, sun, rain, snow and even tornado weather.
Greg’s choice of professions have taught me a lot over the years. First, not to care if he gets called out right before dinner starts – just be happy he comes home. Second, remember that plans can always be re-arranged; even if you were looking forward to thing oh-so-much. And Third, at the end of the day just be grateful he has a job(s). Amen to that!
A lot of times, when Greg or myself tell people that he works for the Union Pacific Railroad, automatically people are fascinated as to what he does for the railroad. Well, if you haven’t heard….there was a 24 car derailment, the biggest in 25 years around these parts, which Greg has to basically help fix.
Pleasant Prairie, WI – 2/8/2010
And my Greggy will make it all better. He has to 100% rebuild the track with his men. Kind of cool, isn’t it? Sad part is, he is there and wasn’t here today on our planned, day off together. But like I said, though he may have missed this moment with me today…
At least I know he’ll be there for the rest of our lives. And the birth of course:)
And no – I DID NOT find out the sex of the baby. Sorry:)
