Today is Valentine’s Day. Now, this has never really been a day of “celebration” for Greg and I. One year, when we were first dating, I remember curling my hair in rollers…only to have them go flat about 1 hour later (this is when I realized my hair NEVER CURLS) and heading to dinner and a movie with his friend/friends woman. The years to follow were a blur. I think we went to dinner one other time on the actual Valentine’s Day. I know I cooked for him a few times – but that’s it.
This year was more like a Valentine Weekend, compared to the actual day. On Friday, we headed to dinner at Texas Roadhouse with Morgan. The choice of restaurant was mainly because they have good, not too pricey steaks and it is a loud environment incase Morgan has a breakdown. Luckily she didn’t and we had a good evening.
Saturday was not as much fun. Greg was on-call for the Fire Department EMS so we were locked in the barracks of our quaint town. We did, however, have a fire from about 3pm onward (which was lovely I may add) and watched a really crappy movie (Couples Retreat).
Sunday was church day, followed by homework for Greg, and then off to his dad’s for dinner. And now, he’s still not home because he’s helping his dad out with another obligation….but it’s okay because I can blog!
My favorite part of today is that when I woke this morning, I very much surprisingly found two cards, one for Morgan and one for me, stacked on the windowsill in the kitchen. It was so sweet and very surprising because Greg HATES buying cards….hates hates hates it. So, that made it even more special.
Greg received a little Valentine gift from me which included some Gillette Fusion (that’s his razor) aftershave balm and two bags of his favorite Brach’s Jelly Beans. Morgan got a bubble wand and a cool stacker toy thing. How fun.
I forgot to mention, though, that my mom topped off this year’s Valentine’s Day by giving me 4 Kohler Inn Free Shower Caps and a bag of my favorite candies…these raspberry jelly things covered in these little hard dot things. They’re so good…wish I knew what they were called. Oh well!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
