I’ve finally come to realize what makes me go C.R.A.Z.Y. when I have a new baby. It’s control. I hate, absolutely HATE not having any sort of predictability in our daily routine. Call me O.C.D. if you really dare, but wouldn’t you like to have things figured out so you are not trapped in your house wondering who’s going to be awake or asleep at any moment?
This week was a big one for me. After listening to the kids play "make-believe” with on another last week, mimicking some of my parenting moments that I am now not really proud of, I came to a conclusion. It was time to change. Time to step up my parenting and adult skills and not be so quick to yell. It was time to take a deep breath and just chill out.
You know what? I did just that. This week has been wonderful. Out of the ENTIRE week, I only got upset once, on Wednesday night at about 6:30pm…and it was at Morgan. I took a step back and apologized for yelling. It made us both feel better.
So here’s to being a better mom – in my eyes anyway.
And for that, we have arrived at Friday.
17 weeks since I’ve felt this good I might add.
17 weeks since little Brooke was born.
17 weeks since I found myself excited for my kids to wake up from their naps.
And to top it off, Greg is coming home today. He’s been gone all week…here was his schedule:
- Monday – arrive home at 7
- Tuesday – arrive home at 9
- Wednesday – didn’t come home at all
- Thursday – arrive home at 7
To celebrate the cooler weather we finally got today, we went to an awesome park that allows us to walk by a pond to get there. The girls loved it.
My little monkeys.
Pretty sure this is going to be the Edible Image on her cake at her 16th bday.
Whatever happened to the old-school teeter totters. You know…the ones that actually moved up and down?
I randomly reached in the tube and took this. Not too bad if I say so myself!
A yummy snack after our journey back to the car. Brooke loves her sisters.
I love my girls. I do. I hope they remember someday all the park trips we took, lol.

Hi Everyone. I took time to get off my speeding merry=go=round today and look at and enjoy all the photos of the beautiful Patten girls and read about what you are doing, It really brightened my day. We had a good time in Star Valley and I accomplished a lot. This week has been a busy and fun week. We think of you often and love you loads.. Keep Smiling, Love Grandma Hood
Ah yes, mimicking your finest parenting moments, I know that one all too well. Hang in there Sarah, you're doing a wonderful job!
I love reading your blogs. You are always honest and remind me how to enjoy the real things in life. I think you should do more things on parenting and how you run your house hold so that some of us can take notes. I admire how you run a house hold of girls that love each other so much with a husband gone most of the time, and a new baby, and be so super amazing. I do want to know you do it!
