We are 1/3 of the way to a year with this little girl. I cannot believe it. Although, with all the constant energy and insanity that goes on at my house, I must say that it has, in a way, flown by.
Today is Brooke’s 4 Month birthday. And to show you how she usually is (for me) let me start you off with how she greets me, each morning..
That’s it. Usually a wide, open-mouth smile, with no squeaks coming out of it. It makes me chuckle every time.
As I picked Brooke up out of her crib yesterday before we left for church, I did my normal hugs, kisses, smiles, I Love You my sweet little girl talk to her. Greg caught me. He says, “Gee, wish you loved me like that….” I punched him to reaffirm that I do It’s just, this little girl is SO precious to me. Morgan and Shelby have each other during the day, and I have Brooke. She is my best little buddy. And she knows it. So much, that she pretty much cries with everyone else. Including Greg.
Brooke is generally a really happy baby. She’s sweet, though she has her times of crying, usually when she’s tired.
But mostly, she is precious as can be.
When we play on the ground, Brooke actually prefers to sit in between my legs with me supporting her backside. So that’s where this happiness comes from.
Other things she is doing and or prefers:
- Sleeps on her side (none of my kids did that) on her own…I don’t prop her.
- Takes a pacifier to fall asleep.
- Just learned that her fingers and the toy rings taste delicious.
- Gazes constantly at her mobile.
- Hates when I yell (another reason I am trying not to yell at the girls).
- Hates the bottle.
- Hates when the women all start to cackle in church during our third-hour Sunday school meeting (aka Relief Society).
- Prefers for me to hold her while I’m standing, not sitting.
- Has to be facing outward.
- Never cries at the store when we shop…kinda nice.
- Loves to smile at her big sisters.
Since Brooke is STILL not sleeping through the night, I gave her rice cereal last night as a birthday surprise. I know it may be a myth of cereal vs. sleeping through the night…but if it holds her to only get up once, I’m game! And last night, it did!! She only awoke at 3:30am! Wahoo!
She’s saying, I don’t know why I’m strapped in this chair, but I’m excited!
Um, what’s this plastic thing?…
Hmm…this taste like mom but is chunky. Hahaha..
All in all it was a success and she ate about 2 Tbsps of cereal. Proud mommy and family!
We love our little Brooke. She is the light of our world right now, shining bright with our two other stars (which sometimes glow more red than I’d like).

Hi everyone. What great photos and good comments from Mom. I glanced at the photos the other day but tonight I had time to just sit and look at them carefully and enjoy every minute. Such beautiful girls! Little Brooke is growing so much and I can see such a delightful little personality. She is blessed to have such good big sisters . We love you all. Great grandma Hood
