Indulgence

When I was in 7th or 8th grade, can’t quite remember which, they had just built the Subway in our small little town.  It was the first little fast-food joint in Hubertus/Richfield so we were very very pleased.  I can remember having Subway at least once a week.  Not that my mom didn’t cook, but I was involved in numerous sports so I had at least one night a week for a quick grab-n-go dinner.

My favorite….ultimate 100% favorite sandwich was the Subway Melt.  Mmmm…ham, turkey, bacon, cheese and the slightest hint of mayo – all toasted to perfection. Delish.

As I entered high school and learned what calories were, I gotta little crazy and became anti-fat for a while.  Meaning, bye bye cheese, bacon and mayo.

Bring on today.  Due to the new Subway campaign of

my pregnancy taste buds shouted at me on the way home from a funeral this morning.  All I could hear was subway melt….Subway Melt….SUBWAY MELT…..SUBWAY MELT.

So, I indulged – for only $5.00 nonetheless.  And my-oh-my, it was the best thing I’ve had in a really long time.  Approximately 8 years to be exact.  Granted, when my baby-making days have passed I will most likely resort to my standard Turkey, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle and Honey Mustard on Wheat Sandwich.  But today, the Subway Melt was too good to forgo.

Thank you, Greg, for helping me get pregnant so I could eat my sandwich today without guilt.  And thank you, Morgan, for eating 1/4 of the footlong so I didn’t feel so bad when I had none leftover.

What’s for Dessert?

Incredible! I've hardly had anything but a subway melt for the past 13 years! Nothing else can compare!

However, I have been guilty of buying a pizza sub for that clog-your-arteries feeling to cure REALLY bad days.

Well that sounds better than my cravings lately...big juicy burger with fries, fries, and more fries. So yeah, you should be feeling completely guilt-free right about now. :)

Subway Melts are also my fav. And like you, I gave them up because of the calories/fat. Now I'm craving one :)
