When I was in middle school, I was always the tall one of the group. I shot from 5ft. to 5’6 in two years – making me the tallest girl around quickly. However, once puberty arrived I stopped growing – go figure.
Anyway, my mom always had problems finding me long enough pants because long were TOO LONG and regular were goofy looking. Every once in a while we’d find jeans that fit and all would be well. From there, my mom would wash them in cold water and never, never-ever-ever dry the jeans. It was funny because when I met Greg, and we were folding his laundry one day, I was like, “You dried your jeans in the dryer? Are you insane!”
As I got older and married, there were some articles of clothing that I would par-bake (as mom calls it) to get the wetness out, but not enough to shrink the clothing. Not really a science – a smart person would set the timer, don’t you think?
Today I was not smart.
I have a pair of maternity jeans that I needed to shrink because…once again…the mediums were too short and the longs were too long and baggy. So, I chose to par-bake for about 20min to just shrink a bit but not too much.
It’s been 35 minutes and I just remembered them. Went downstairs and the dryer has 11 minutes left.
Oye – I have a lot to learn still mom! I am a par-bake failure! Hopefully they’ll still fit!!!
