Cry me a river.

Last night was the night we had been dreading for months.

Over the course of this past week, Shelby had been developing a very noticeable bad habit.  She’d perfectly go to bed after nursing at 7:00pm, only to wake up precisely 45 minutes later crying. I’d go give her the pacifier, she’d spit it out, and this would repeat itself for about 30 minutes.  Well…..last night was the last straw.

After being unable to console her at all, I looked at Greg and said, “This is the night.”  All Shelby wanted was for me to come in there and pick her up.  And as far as the pacifier, I couldn’t just stand over her crib, holding it in her mouth until she fell asleep.  Come on, lets get real!

So, the games began.

6:45pm – Shelby ate.
7:00pm – Shelby was perfectly asleep in her crib.
7:45pm – The squawking began.
8:00pm – Shelby spit out the pacifier about 10 times by now, so I left her.
8:30pm – She’d been crying for 30 minutes now – it was so sad.  I decided to give her one last chance with the pacifier…..she spit it out again.
9:00pm – The crying stops! FINALLY!

6:00am…..Shelby wakes for the FIRST TIME!

I cannot, repeat, cannot believe that this always works.  She went 11 hours without eating and slept from 9:00pm – 6:00am.  Holy Cow!  Please….oh please oh please oh please let her continue this.  Yeah for Shelby learning to put herself to sleep!

PS: For those who were wondering….yes, my boobs almost exploded.
